When people say they want to use Invisalign to straighten their teeth the first question they ask is how to get started. The good news is getting started is easier than most people think. We’re here to help you every step of the way.

The first step in getting Invisalign is to schedule an appointment with a dentist or orthodontist who is trained and certified to do this. Miller Orthodontics has done a lot of Invisalign and helped many people in North Tampa get amazing results. During this first visit we’ll make sure we understand what you want to do with your smile. We’ll ask you if you have any problems with your teeth, such as crowding, spacing or a bad bite.

Once we know what you want we’ll take a look at your teeth and jaw. This exam helps us determine if Invisalign is right for you. Invisalign can help with many orthodontic issues but there are times when traditional braces or other treatments work better. We’ll tell you exactly what we think will work best for you. We’ll tell you how the treatment will work for you and how long you’ll need to wear the aligners if Invisalign is right for you. Invisalign for Adults provides discreet and effective treatment designed for busy, professional lifestyles.

When we have your scans we use special software to determine exactly how your teeth will move during your treatment. This is one of the most fun parts of the process because we can show you a computer generated image of what your smile will look like after treatment. You might see the change before you even start which will make you feel good about moving forward. We’ll also talk about how long your treatment will be and how many aligners you’ll need.

We send everything to Invisalign when you agree to the treatment plan. They then build your custom aligners. This will take a few weeks. As soon as your aligners get to our North Tampa location we’ll schedule an appointment for you to start. During this visit we’ll make sure your first set of aligners fit and feel good. We’ll show you how to put them in and take them out, how to care for them and what to expect as you go through treatment. We might also add small attachments to some of your teeth to make the aligners work better.

You’ll wear each set of aligners for about two weeks before switching to the next set. You should wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day, taking them out only to eat, drink something other than water or brush your teeth. Every six to eight weeks we’ll check in on you and give you your next set of aligners.

It’s important to know you don’t need a referral to see an orthodontist for Invisalign treatment. You can always call us to schedule a consultation. If your general dentist has told you you need braces they may have already told you about Invisalign and can definitely direct you to our office.

We’ll also talk about the cost of treatment and all the ways you can pay for it at the visit. We want to make sure you have all the information you need to make a decision that works for you and your budget. The staff at Miller Orthodontics will do everything we can to make the whole process as easy and stress free as possible. We know deciding to straighten your teeth is a big deal and we’re here to help with any questions or concerns you may have. You can get started by calling us or going to our website to schedule your first appointment. Then we’ll take care of everything and be here for you every step of the way.
