We know many people are unsure what to expect when they come to see us for the first time and making an appointment for orthodontic treatment is a big decision. We want our appointments at Miller Orthodontics to be useful, relaxing and stress free. We want you to leave knowing your options and feeling good about your decision for Invisalign treatment.

Our friendly staff will greet you when you arrive for your appointment and help you fill out any forms you need to. We made this step easy because we know filling out a lot of forms is not fun. Please bring your dental insurance information with you so we can check your coverage while you’re here. But it’s okay if you don’t have insurance or forget your card. We can do that later.

The first part of the consultation is to talk. We want to know what’s been bothering you and what you want to get out of braces. You may have been embarrassed about your crowded teeth for years or seen gaps forming that bother you. Some people come in with specific questions about clear aligners, while others are just starting to look at their options. Whatever brings you in, we will listen to you and understand your perspective before we do any testing. We’ll look at your teeth and bite first. This means we’ll look at the position of your teeth, how your upper and lower teeth come together when you bite down and any abnormalities that can be corrected with braces. We use the latest digital imaging technology to learn a lot about your teeth. Many people still remember how awful the putty impressions were years ago. Most of the time that’s been replaced with this technology. The computerized scans are quick, easy and give us very accurate information to help us plan treatment.

One of the best parts of the consultation is when we show you a picture of what your smile could look like after treatment. With our advanced software we can create a simulation that shows how your teeth will move and what the final result will be. This preview shows you what could happen and makes it much easier to decide if you want to move forward. You can imagine what it would be like to have straighter teeth but seeing what it would look like for you is a whole different story.

We’ll talk about how clear aligner treatment works, like how long you need to wear each set of aligners, how often you need to switch to new aligners and how long the whole process will take for you. We’re honest about how much work and commitment this treatment will require. You have to wear the aligners every day for at least 22 hours. We want you to know these rules ahead of time so you can decide if this is the right way for you to do things.

Cost is obviously a key part of the decision and we’ll talk about that at your appointment. We’ll give you a breakdown of the cost of treatment based on your needs and go over all the payment options with you. We’ll check your insurance plan and tell you how much you’ll have to pay out of pocket if you have insurance. We’ll also talk about our payment plans which allow you to pay for products over time. Before you make any decisions we want you to know exactly how your money is being used. During the whole consultation we want you to ask questions. There’s no such thing as a dumb question when it comes to your orthodontic care. People usually want to know how long treatment will take, if it will hurt, how clear aligners are different from traditional braces and what will happen when the active treatment is over. We’ll answer all your questions in detail and make sure you understand the whole process.

At the end of your consultation we’ll give you a written treatment plan and cost estimate to take home and consider. We never pressure anyone to make a decision right away. You should take as much time as you need to be sure this is the right choice. Some people want to start treatment right away while others want to go home and talk to their family or think about it for a few days. We don’t care either way.

If you’re thinking about clear aligners in North Tampa we recommend you schedule an appointment with Miller Orthodontics. By the end of the consultation you’ll know if this is right for you, what it includes, how long it will take and how much it will cost. We think knowing what it’s like to work with our staff is just as important as the medical information we give you. Many of our patients say they felt comfortable and well taken care of from the moment they walked in and we work hard to make sure everyone who comes in feels that way.
